News Machines: How the same quiz format converted 45 times better in a different spot

September 16, 2026 · Ulrike Langer, News Machines

Media innovation journalist Ulrike Langer looks at how news publishers use quizzes, based on two Riddle customers: the German sports site sport.de and the Swiss public broadcaster SRF. The sport.de data shows that the same quiz format turned 1.41% of page views into players inside a regular news article – and 63.4% inside a dedicated quiz article. SRF’s press office confirmed that the broadcaster publishes around 68 interactive pieces built with Riddle every month. The piece also covers how the BBC uses Riddle with all AI features switched off, and includes an interview with Riddle founder Boris Pfeiffer.

PPC Land: Riddle finds 78% of interactive content shares escape web analytics

September 15, 2026 · Luis Rijo, PPC Land

PPC Land published a detailed, independent analysis of our white paper The State of Interactive Content 2026, based on more than 3.8 billion views of quizzes, polls, personality tests, forms and mini-games. The article covers the 112 seconds of average engagement per start, the format and vertical breakdowns, the trade-offs of lead-form placement and the finding that nearly four in five shares travel through private messaging apps such as WhatsApp. It also asks critical questions about the methodology – a good read if you want a second opinion on our numbers.
