TYPE THE ANSWER BLOCK

Transcript:
Hello and welcome back to Riddle. In this next step we’re going to create a type-the-answer question, which is where your audience has to type their answer rather than selecting from the options. So our question here is this question here. There’s a picture and the audience has to type which movie this car comes from. Okay, so let’s create this. Click on add a block and we need to type the answer block add that in. I would like to add an image straight away. You may have guessed it, it’s from Harry Potter. So in the title field, I’m going to type in the instructions. So in this case Name the movie from the picture

Okay, and under answer content, instead of putting in some answer options that your audience then click, you type in the correct answer. So I’m going to type in Harry Potter and perhaps as an alternative Chamber of Secrets. And I’m going to add a third option with the in front of it. And maybe one more with the whole thing. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Okay. So I’ve got these options. And here, again, I can set up an answer explanation. So in this case, I could say this is the flying car from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. I have now forgotten what year it was. I have to check my notes again. I’ll add that in in a moment. Perhaps you know it already.

Okay, so we’ve got the question and the answer options. Let’s go into the options for these different settings, specifically for this sort of block. So again, you can click on the options icon there and we have our panel of options on the right. So the same as for a single select question, we have this possibility with media to have it, to not have it, to choose what sort of ratio it is. And what’s special for this sort of question are under the answers here. OK, so we need to set how many guesses your audience has to answer. So by default, they have one guess. But I would like to give them three. So you can see this is represented here by the hearts in this case.

I could change that to numbers or to an X symbol. Or I could even make it unlimited so they can type it in as many times as they want. But I’d like to give them three guesses. So I’ll change the one here to three. And I’d like to show that as well. I could hide that and then. The audience don’t see how many times they can guess so for example here okay it’s wrong but I don’t know how many more guesses I have perhaps you don’t want to show them that limitation so you can hide that if you want but I’d like to display it and I’d like it to say lives now in terms of the answers

It’s up to you whether you now make this case sensitive or not So I don’t want it to be case sensitive so I need to enable this here And that means that if I write Harry with a lowercase h for example it doesn’t matter What I can also do is ignore space which means that I might write for example Harry Potter as one word and it would be correct So that’s also fine there Okay I want to keep that and we have our scoring again So I can depending on which answer I put and now here it might really make sense to for example have two points for the full title of the film One point for the rest It’s up to you.

You can set that up or maybe two points for Harry Potter one point for Harry That’s up to you. You can play around with that I’m going to keep it as two there and one for the rest of them And what I can also do is add or enable the show correct answer button, which means that if I want to give up, but I still want to see the correct answer, or if your audience has had all their guesses, all their lives over, then they can see the correct answer by clicking on that button there. Okay, now under answer explanations, again, we can set it up so that each answer option has a different answer explanation, but I’m happy with this answer explanation for each one.

And I could, and I’m going to do that, change it to below question again, so that that answer explanation appears underneath rather than as a pop-up on top of the question. Okay I don’t need any media there so I’m happy with that um so here was our original one and you can see here oh yeah 2002 okay I can just add that in there okay so we have our question and all the options for our type the answer question feel free to play around with that and if you have any other questions then feel free to write to us at academy riddle . com or write in the support chat on our website.
