5 Block score logic
Welcome back! In this lesson, we’ll explore how to use block score logic to tailor quiz paths based on how well your audience scores in a previous block. This approach is ideal for quizzes with right or wrong answers and allows you to customize follow-up content, such as showing an extra block of tips or redirecting to a different topic based on performance. We will:
- use a health quiz example to demonstrate score-based branching
- show how to set up and adjust score and block mapping
- walk through copying and reusing branches
- explore how to use score logic for personalized education, ads, or follow-up quizzes

00:00:04.480 –> 00:00:05.920
Hi there, welcome back. We’re going to
00:00:05.920 –> 00:00:07.920
look at block score logic in this video.
00:00:08.760 –> 00:00:10.400
What that means is that the next branch
00:00:10.400 –> 00:00:13.040
depends on the score in the previous
00:00:13.040 –> 00:00:15.440
block. This is something you can use in
00:00:15.480 –> 00:00:17.600
all your quizzes because you need blocks
00:00:17.600 –> 00:00:20.400
where you have questions which can either
00:00:20.400 –> 00:00:23.120
be right or wrong and have scoring in the
00:00:23.120 –> 00:00:25.920
first place. So for our use case, as an
00:00:25.920 –> 00:00:28.280
example, we’re going to use a health
00:00:28.280 –> 00:00:31.280
check quiz. It’s a general knowledge quiz
00:00:31.280 –> 00:00:33.360
about different systems in the body. And
00:00:33.360 –> 00:00:34.480
you can see we’ve got lots of different
00:00:34.480 –> 00:00:37.120
sorts of blocks here that we’ve used from
00:00:37.360 –> 00:00:40.160
multi-select to spot the differences.
00:00:40.480 –> 00:00:43.440
And each question, so this
00:00:43.440 –> 00:00:44.560
question here, which is the one we’re
00:00:44.560 –> 00:00:46.720
going to be using for branching, if we
00:00:46.720 –> 00:00:48.960
click on options, you can see I’ve set it
00:00:48.960 –> 00:00:50.320
up so that it is a right or wrong
00:00:50.320 –> 00:00:52.960
question and the score is one. So
00:00:53.760 –> 00:00:55.400
depending on which answer you choose, you
00:00:55.400 –> 00:00:57.360
can either get a score of zero or one.
00:00:58.080 –> 00:01:00.800
And the next question after that
00:01:00.880 –> 00:01:03.600
is this vitamin C question. Okay, let’s
00:01:03.600 –> 00:01:05.840
go to our branches to set that up
00:01:05.840 –> 00:01:08.720
together. And I’m
00:01:08.720 –> 00:01:10.600
going to reset the logic to
00:01:13.920 –> 00:01:15.680
linear for that question just so that we
00:01:15.680 –> 00:01:18.080
can do it together. So that’s
00:01:18.720 –> 00:01:20.800
the question that we want to branch out
00:01:20.800 –> 00:01:23.720
from. and I would like it
00:01:23.720 –> 00:01:26.080
to be block score for branching type.
00:01:26.880 –> 00:01:29.840
Now by default we then
00:01:30.240 –> 00:01:32.840
see the only score range options are 0
00:01:32.840 –> 00:01:35.440
and 1 because the of the score that I set
00:01:35.440 –> 00:01:37.480
up in that question. Now what I want to
00:01:37.480 –> 00:01:40.240
do is copy and paste these
00:01:41.080 –> 00:01:43.040
other branches that make up the rest of
00:01:43.040 –> 00:01:45.680
the quiz onto that other branch as well,
00:01:45.680 –> 00:01:47.840
because yes, I want them to have that
00:01:47.840 –> 00:01:49.320
next question, but I also want them to
00:01:49.320 –> 00:01:51.840
have the rest of the quiz as well. So to
00:01:51.840 –> 00:01:54.720
copy and paste a whole of every branch,
00:01:54.720 –> 00:01:56.440
including the first one that you click
00:01:56.440 –> 00:01:59.440
on, click on shift and then control
00:01:59.440 –> 00:02:00.560
or command,
00:02:02.320 –> 00:02:05.280
and then drag and drop them
00:02:05.280 –> 00:02:07.160
over. Now they have the rest of the quiz
00:02:07.160 –> 00:02:09.280
as well. The only difference now is that
00:02:09.440 –> 00:02:11.040
the person who got that water question
00:02:11.040 –> 00:02:13.880
wrong has an extra question in there, or
00:02:13.880 –> 00:02:15.440
an extra block in this case with that
00:02:15.440 –> 00:02:16.920
information about how to drink more
00:02:16.920 –> 00:02:19.920
water. Just zoom out
00:02:19.920 –> 00:02:21.720
a little. So now you can see what that
00:02:21.720 –> 00:02:24.520
looks like as a whole. You can see this
00:02:24.520 –> 00:02:27.240
is a really great tool for educating your
00:02:27.240 –> 00:02:29.880
audience. for putting in whether it is
00:02:29.880 –> 00:02:32.640
that extra text block like we did here,
00:02:32.920 –> 00:02:35.440
whether it’s an ad or
00:02:35.440 –> 00:02:38.080
iframe for a product or for a
00:02:38.080 –> 00:02:40.520
website that targets a
00:02:40.520 –> 00:02:43.040
specific topic that you are talking about
00:02:43.040 –> 00:02:45.680
in this quiz, or whether it’s just that
00:02:45.680 –> 00:02:46.800
they should then be taken
00:02:50.080 –> 00:02:52.400
to a result page. And
00:02:52.720 –> 00:02:54.360
perhaps they should be taking a different
00:02:54.360 –> 00:02:56.800
quiz that is at a different level for
00:02:56.800 –> 00:02:58.560
them or something like that. So you’ve
00:02:58.560 –> 00:03:00.160
got so many different options here
00:03:01.120 –> 00:03:03.280
and you can play around with that.
00:03:04.080 –> 00:03:06.440
I’ll also put a link to this quiz
00:03:06.440 –> 00:03:08.000
underneath this video so you can play it
00:03:08.480 –> 00:03:11.120
and see how that works. I’ll see you in
00:03:11.120 –> 00:03:13.040
another clip for a different sort of
00:03:13.040 –> 00:03:15.480
branching logic. Thank you very much and
00:03:15.480 –> 00:03:16.000
see you soon.
