Perfect. A good start is always great.
It’s great to be head over heels in love. But it never lasts😊. Use your surplus energy right now to create a sustainable future with your chosen one!
You can do this by, among other things, getting into good study habits.
Share your surplus energyBring your surplus energy into the study group as well. Invite the others to talk about the ‘meaning’ of what you are doing in the programme. Those struggling right now often won’t take a crack at that kind of talk, so go ahead. And even if your gut feeling is great, it’s a good thing to be clear on what’s important and meaningful to you in your student life.

You feel like you’re in the right place, but you haven’t got your head in the clouds. That’s not too bad.

That sounds like the perfect attitude. One day at a time.
Of course, it would be ace to be head over heels in love with your new education programme from day 1. But this is not the case for most people.
Most people find that what they actually encounter when they start their studies doesn’t quite match what they imagined. No wonder. How would you know what it is like to study before trying?
Forget what you imagined and be curiousFor a moment, try forgetting what you thought it would be like to study here. And take the time to sense what kind of place this is. Allow yourself to be curious (and not evaluating).
The best way to find out if you are in the right placeTalk to people about what you are experiencing and what makes you wonder. ‘What is this? Why do we do this? This is hard! This is fun!’. Talk to your new fellow students, old friends and family. Or reach out to the student counselling. By talking about what you are experiencing, it makes much better sense than when it’s just incidental thoughts in your head.
And remember: It often takes 1 or 2 semesters before you are confident that you are in the right place.

While being in doubt is quite frustrating, it is both natural and healthy.
The common perception is that you should be deeply in love with your new course of study from day 1. However, most people experience that what they actually encounter when they start their studies does not 100% match what they imagined. No wonder. How would you know what it is like to study before trying? But it can still trigger a lot of doubt: ‘Did I choose wrong?’
