Reflecting on Strengths
This is a tool for leaders to reflect on how far they are taking the right steps to build and sustain a strengths-based culture in their organisation. The 12 question areas used have been identified from InspireChilli's experience of supporting and assessing the quality of organisations seeking to offer a strength-based service model. The tool should be used as part of a process for celebrating achievements, identifying insights for development, and recognising where you might need more help as a leader.
The term 'strength-based' is used in the tool to refer to any asset-based, Advantaged Thinking style approach. By a focus on strengths, we mean behaviours such as: starting from what good looks like rather than what the problem is; working with people, not doing to people; seeing and believing in people's potential; promoting people's strengths - to themselves and others; investing in people so they can thrive, not just survive; recognising strengths from people's lived experience by giving those people power to shape solutions; and being prepared to take action to bring about systemic transformation beyond the talk of personal change.
InspireChilli offers this tool for free as part of Director Colin Falconer's passionate commitment to promote asset-based working. However, to get the most from the tool, we recommend purchasing a 1-1 support session with Colin to review findings, discuss next step actions, and receive a personalised report based on responses to advance your work. To take advantage of this unique service, please contact hello@inspirechilli.com with 'STRENGTHS' in the subject line and ask for a personalised link to the assessment tool before completing it. The price for this is £200.
More than a tick list, the strength-based behaviours listed above are about a way of thinking and being, so give yourself plenty of time to reflect as you consider the question areas used in the survey tool. For those who take up the paid option, you will have a chance to share any personal reflections in a text box at the end of the quiz which will be responded to as part of the subsequent support session and follow up report.
